PARENT INVOLVEMENT AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL IS CRUCIAL
Moving from elementary school to middle school is an adjustment for students and parents alike. There are usually more teachers to know and a more complicated schedule to understand. Kids can be embarrassed about parent involvement, but these changes are not reason for parents to stop working with the school. It is just as important as ever for parents to stay involved.
Meet your child's teachers and Guidance Counselor as soon as possible instead of waiting until problems arise - attend Open House or join P-TAC.
Read about the school. At the beginning of the year, the school hands out the Student Handbook and your child's Team may send home a TEAM LETTER. Please ask for materials if you didn't receive them.
Keep track of your child's progress at school. If his/her grades slip, contact your child's teachers for help. A midterm progress report is available on your child's WPS Student Portal at the mid-point of every quarter. Please call the school if you did not see one. Please request a meeting with your child's teacher if you feel they are falling behind.
